About Horizon Helping Hands

A Canadian not-for-profit built to strengthen communities by supporting trusted organizations delivering essential services.

Horizon Helping Hands exists to connect generosity with real community need.

We support qualified organizations already working on the ground to provide essential services, practical help and hope where it is needed most. Our role is to help strengthen credible community work rather than duplicate it.

Why Horizon was created

Communities are strongest when people can access basic stability, education and social support. Horizon Helping Hands was formed to help resources reach organizations equipped to turn them into meaningful local outcomes.

Malehkai, our mascot

Malehkai is a grey-and-white husky with a red bandana. He represents loyalty, resilience, warmth and the steady companionship people need during difficult periods.

Our operating principles

  • Dignity: people facing hardship deserve respect, privacy and practical support.
  • Community knowledge: local organizations understand local needs.
  • Accountability: support should be directed carefully and communicated honestly.
  • Collaboration: lasting progress is built with partners, volunteers and donors.
